Domaine de La Vitrolle

Domaine de La Vitrolle

Since its origins in 1837, Domaine de la Vitrolle has embodied the rich and captivating wine history of Limeuil, a small village nestled at the confluence of the majestic Dordogne and Vézère rivers.

At this flourishing time, the hills of Limeuil were home to up to 80 hectares of vines, and the bustling port was the scene of the embarkation of precious barrels of red wine bound for Bordeaux, transported aboard barges.

Over the decades, the reputation of Limeuil wines continued to grow. In 1880, Domaine de la Vitrolle added to its production the famous "Clairet des Pierrailles", a velvety red wine, as well as a delicate fruity white wine, both from the sunny slopes of Limeuil.

In 1984, a new era began for Domaine de la Vitrolle, under the visionary leadership of Bertin-Jean Beaugier, a businessman born in Périgord. Driven by his passion for vines, he undertook a complete renovation of the estate, reestablishing a vineyard on the well-exposed hillsides of the Vézère valley around Limeuil.

The first vine stocks were planted on the remains of an old vine already present on the estate in 1903, thus marking a return to basics marked by respect for the local wine-growing tradition.

Today, the Domaine de la Vitrolle vineyard extends over 8 hectares, benefiting from constant evolution and continued attention to produce quality Périgord country wines, unpretentious but sincerely representative of the man. and the land that saw them born.

The Domaine de la Vitrolle thus perpetuates the centuries-old wine heritage of Limeuil, offering wine lovers an authentic experience and a journey to the heart of the history and passion that have animated these lands for centuries.
