Cafés Layac

Layac Cafés

We are proud to announce that Cafés Layac won the Public Prize at the “2023 Sustainable Development Trophy” of the Department of Dordogne. This recognition demonstrates Céline and Julien's commitment to promoting a more sustainable lifestyle, one cup of coffee at a time, by highlighting wood-fired roasting.

Since they relaunched wood fire roasting in 2021, Céline and Julien have seen significant benefits for the environment. In fact, this method generates 7 times less CO2 than gas roasting, which is more widespread. In addition to being respectful of the planet, this technique offers an incomparable taste experience, giving their coffees a unique and authentic flavor.

But their ecological commitment does not stop there. They take a holistic approach that encompasses every aspect of their business:

  • They use local wood from the nearby forest, a sustainably managed resource, which reduces their carbon footprint and supports the local economy.
  • They give a second life to their coffee "waste", such as coffee skins and grounds, by transforming them into high-quality compost in partnership with a specialized association.
  • They also promote cascara, a product derived from the cultivation of the coffee tree formerly considered as production waste. Today, they are making it a product valued and appreciated by their customers.
  • Finally, in their store, Céline and Julien select items related to the world of coffee that are creatively upcycled, thus helping to reduce waste production and encourage more responsible consumption.

At Cafés Layac, they firmly believe that every small action counts in building a more sustainable future.

We are proud of their commitment to the environment and their contribution to preserving our planet, while providing their customers with an exceptional, respectful and flavorful coffee experience.
