Flowers
Lucy Williams is a flower grower at LES FLEURS. A love of flowers was awakened in her as a small child playing in the ancient woods and bluebell meadows of rural Dorset (England). Wild bouquets have always been part of her family tradition, simple and seasonal, from the tiniest violets in spring to huge vines of fluffy wild clematis, hanging from the beams of her chalet kitchen in autumn.
It was in an art deco house in the Périgord Noir that Lucy, her family and her horses, cats and dog settled in 2016. Lucy knew that the grounds of the house would be perfect for something, and her previous experience in international luxury wedding industry had awakened its awareness of the environmental cost of events. At that time, a global movement of slow flower farmers, often women, was leading the way toward sustainable floral design. It was clear that a new eco-friendly customer base was emerging, giving many others, herself included, the confidence to try micro-farming.
Starting with the smallest of investments in a few packets of seeds during December 2019, accompanied by lots of encouragement from friends and family, as well as support from her wonderful customers, she has grown into a successful and joyful business .
